From Concept to Creation
One room, many stages. Today we’re sharing what it took to get a living room from empty space, to a client’s happy space.
WHERE WE
STARTED…
The home had incredible vintage details, and original beams and floors that gave warmth and character. There was an extension being added on the other side of the fireplace, and the client wanted to incorporate stone onto the face of the fireplace, so that became a focal point for our design. We also wanted to define the living space from the kitchen space with layout and in aesthetic.
THE INSPO
Sourcing inspiration photos is always an important step for us, since it allows the client to visualize what we are thinking for the space. It’s always helpful when the client has their own ideas (and Pinterest boards!) The direction of this space was going to be classic, clean lines, warm, with lots of light neutrals and a wink of mid-century leather and wood.

THE VISION BOARD
Vision Boards allow us to try our furniture pulls out together, move pieces around easily, and compare how textures and colors interact in the space. It can take hours and sometimes days of pulling in different pieces, trying them out with the floor plan and looking at samples in our our showroom. When we started looking at furniture we knew we wanted to source a vintage mid-century credenza to anchor the entry way. We settled on the iteration shown here, and after getting approval from the client, placed orders.
THE END PRODUCT:
There can always be some switch ups from conception to install day, in the case of this living room, that meant a fabric change on the accent chair. We had originally sourced a leather chair for this corner but after looking at decor, gauging the warmth of the room overall, and talks with the client we stayed with white linen. This change kept the room super light and airy. Install is always our favorite day, and with the help of some amazing furniture movers, we ended up with the below result.
