Flowers in February

A visit to our favorite Florists in the Hudson Valley.

It’s February, a month of romance, but also a month that could use a little brightening up. We in the Hudson Valley have been salting our driveways, watching the sun set at 5pm, and stoking our wood stoves for a few months now, and what we wouldn’t do for the slightest hint of spring. The Hudson Valley hosts some of the most striking, innovative, and diverse flower farms in the US. As a cottage industry that has sprung up in response to our high number of wedding venues, HV Florists are resourceful and creative when it comes to their arrangements. From pick-your-own to flower CSA’s, our favorite flower vendors have found ways to make it work in an environment that’s not always, shall we say…sunny? Here are a few of our favorite florists and flower farms in the Hudson Valley. Take your pick of these amazing businesses this Valentine’s Day.

Hops Petunia, located in a corner storefront in Kingston’s waterfront, has beautiful, simple arrangements and delivers throughout the region.

Athabold, owned by a husband and wife team, is an Icelandic name that means “everyone welcome.” Stop by the inviting shop, located in Germantown, to place an order.

Petals & Moss in Red Hook has special Valentine's hours Monday and Tuesday 10 - 5. Pre-orders must be in by February 10th.

The Quiet Botanist is not exactly a flower shop —it’s an experience. Tucked away in Hudson, this charming shop offers dried flower arrangements, plant-based apothecary items, and even gardening tools.

Flowerkraut in Hudson offers lovely floral arrangements (named after girls like Barbara, Verna & Dora) as well as house plants.

The Parcel Flower Co. in Cold Spring is an incredible resource for flowers, indoor plants and education. We recently collaborated on an Interiors Project and fell in love with their space!
